"I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." -The Little Engine That Could

A simple reminder I need. Here’s hoping reading this reminds you of the good we can draw from life and the choice to be happy is ultimately our own.

“You were given life; it is your duty (and also your entitlement as a human being) to find something beautiful within life, no matter how slight.”

— Elizabeth Gilbert

Today, make your top priority to find something beautiful. No other requirements are necessary. This small act could change your entire perspective on the world around you.

What’s a few extra minutes for a shot at a new outlook on life?

“If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.”

— H.G. Wells

Do not let yesterday’s struggles determine today’s viewpoint.

We understand. You fell. You’re seemingly down for the count. We will let you catch your breath.

But while you’re down there…

You can either fix your eyes to the ground or to the sky.

You can either stay down or rise to the occasion.

Which is it going to be?

“Maybe it’s good to put things in perspective, but sometimes, I think that the only perspective is to really be there. Because it’s okay to feel things. And be who you are about them.”

— Stephen Chbosky

It was hard to pick just one quote from this book. I hope this one does for you what it did for me– reminded me that you should feel what you need to feel and not judge yourself based on those emotions.

We can’t be happy all the time. It’s our hope we won’t be sad all the time. Feel what you need to and don’t give yourself crap for it. And while you may not like where you are right now, another quote from the book can probably help with that…

“We are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there.”

Love and Light,

“Perhaps every ‘victim’ is really a survivor who does not know it yet.”

— Rachel Naomi Remen

I will leave this a short post. Find a survivor in your life and tell them how much they mean to you. Inspiration can be found in the strangest places. When it comes to people, however, most walk along side of us and we never realize how much they mean until it’s too late. To every survivor and victim alike, I look up to you. You inspire me. Thank you.

“Despite all the things we all experience, like heartbreak and pain, it takes being able to get through it to realize the beauty of life. All the negative makes you realize the things that matter. It puts the petty things in perspective.”

— Jason Peters

Sometimes it takes life turning things upside-down for us to take a better look. All the pain, all the heartbreak… they brought us here.

Gain perspective from every experience. Don’t let the little things flip your world. And when your life goes topsy-turvy, enjoy the view while you can. Who knows– you might like it better that way.

Drink in life, don’t drown in it.

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Fill your heart with the idea that each day is the best day. Believe it with such conviction that it would be a crime to question it.

Because we all know that this used to be considered the best day of our lives.
