Blogging on The Brightside

"I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." -The Little Engine That Could

“Human beings are works in progress that mistakenly think they’re finished.”

— Dan Gilbert

Some days, it is easier to use someone else’s words to explain how you feel. It’s one of the reasons I love quotes– that strong sense of connection to someone who felt the same way you did and found just the right words to describe it all. It is in this spirit that Dan Gilbert is just the guy for us.

As you move into this weekend,

as you move from one week to the next,

as the months and seasons begin to change,

remind yourself of something very important– YOU ARE NEVER FINISHED.

Continue to grow and change. You are a work in progress, and to us, you are a masterpiece every step of the way.

Love and Light,

Carly

Forever Incomplete(ly Perfect)

“I have been running so sweaty my whole life
Urgent for a finish line
And I have been missing the rapture this whole time
Of being forever incomplete.”

— Alanis Morissette

Don’t get so caught up in the rush towards a “finish line” that you forget what it takes to get there. Savor each step, each ache, each twist and turn of the course.

You will never be complete. And while that may be daunting for some of you, it will be a beautiful reminder for others.

You will spend all of your life finding where you fit in, what is “missing,” what you need to feel more complete and what you can do to complete others. In the middle of all of this running and searching and working and striving, you are constantly making progress, constantly changing and evolving. Even though you change, you grow, you make yourself a better person each day, it is important to realize how wonderful you are without every piece in place.

You are forever incomplete and completely perfect, all at the same time.

“The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.”

— Moliere

I don’t always write for other people on this blog. I believe that both Ray and myself write often for what we, ourselves, need to hear. This is something I know will help me make it through this week (and those that follow) in one piece.

I need the reminder that overcoming something (anything) is amazing. It provide an feeling of accomplishment and strength. It is awe-inspiring when you can turn around and see how far you’ve come. What may seem impossible to overcome is just your obstacles demonstrating the monstrous amount of strength you can gain from it in the end.

Take the challenges and obstacles presented to you and tell them to go straight to hell.

You will overcome this. Your glory days are right around the corner. Decide that you are bigger than this and prove it to yourself.

I hope you find strength you did not even know you had this week.

Love and Light,

Carly

“Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out.”

James B. Conant

Don’t be afraid to stick your neck out this week, otherwise you might miss the tide.  Have a great week, everybody!

“I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”

Einstein

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
